Onwards to Amritsar to visit the Golden Temple

I got an early ‘deluxe’ train to Amritsar and had the pleasure of sitting next to a rather intense man who chatted to me constantly (when he wasn’t snoring).    Amritsar is north of Delhi and journey took about 5 or 6 hours.   On arrival I got a tuk tuk into the city centre and found some accommodation then headed straight for the Golden Temple.

The Golden Temple is absolutely lovely, it’s a Sikh temple and is said to be their holiest shrine.   The Sikh religion is inclusive so everyone is welcome, each temple has a communal kitchen where anyone can go to eat and before you can enter the temple complex you must remove your shoes, wash your feet and cover your head..

I spent a couple of hours wandering around just enjoying the peaceful vibe and watching pilgrims come and go.
